Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Unveils “Grant Tracker” during National Sunshine Week
Springfield, IL – The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) has launched a new web site (www.ildceo.net/granttracker) that gives citizens greater access to information about who received grant funding, where it was spent, and for what purpose. DCEO unveiled the Grant Tracker site during National Sunshine Week, which runs March 15 - March 21.
“Transparency is one of Governor Quinn's and my highest priorities, and I'm pleased to make our grant information accessible to citizens through Grant Tracker,” said Warren Ribley, director of DCEO. “At DCEO, we look upon the state and federally-allocated dollars that are distributed by our agency as a portfolio that is owned by all Illinoisans. And as you track the ups and downs of your own investment portfolio, you should also be able to track how today's government resources are being used to ensure innovation, as well as faster economic growth and recovery.”
Thousands of grants are administered by DCEO each year. Grant Tracker allows citizens to search all DCEO-administered grants that were active starting July 1, 2008.
Visitors can search by numerous grant categories, funding streams, regions and by organization name. DCEO uses innovative mapping technology developed by ESRI to provide the Grant Locator, a mapping representation of the grants awarded, and Google Maps to provide a visual of individual project locations. Search results can be sorted by column headings within Grant Tracker and can be downloaded to a personal computer for further review. All data is updated daily.
A link to DCEO’s Grant Tracker and Corporate Accountability sites can also be found on the Governor's Sunshine Portal at http://sunshine.illinois.gov. DCEO is the state's lead economic development agency responsible for creating jobs and building economic prosperity. For more information, visit the agency’s website at www.ildceo.net.
