State Investment Creates Jobs, Supports Economic Growth
DOWNERS GROVE – August 6, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced that Dover Corporation has opened its new corporate headquarters in Downers Grove, a move that will create and retain at least 100 jobs, and will help foster economic growth in Northeast Illinois.
“Dover’s investment in Illinois is a good shot in the arm during these tough economic times,” said Governor Quinn. “Not only are we helping to create and retain 100 jobs for hard-working Illinoisans and providing a boost to Illinois’ manufacturing industry, but we’re also supporting long-term economic growth in the Northeast Illinois region.”
Dover Corporation is a worldwide, diversified manufacturer of industrial products. The company announced in November that it would consolidate its four segment headquarters, operating in cities throughout the United States, and its New York City corporate headquarters to the Highland Landmark V office complex in Downers Grove.
“Our grand opening represents the culmination of many months of hard work to ensure our successful relocation to Illinois,” said Dover President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Livingston. “Already, many of our employees have moved their families to the area and now are proud to call Chicagoland home. Moreover, we are pleased with the talent we've found here and have successfully added several new team members locally.”
“As we continue to recover from the national economic recession, our top priority remains creating well paying, sustainable jobs,” said Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Director Warren Ribley. “Our investment in Dover is an example of how we’re employing every tool available in our toolbox to boost job creation, foster growth, and get our economy moving in a positive direction again.”
DCEO will be administering the state’s approximately $6.3 million business investment package consisting of Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) corporate income tax credits, which are based on job creation.
Illinois has added nearly 60,000 jobs in 2010 – more new jobs than any other Midwest state.
