Illinois Trade Adjustment Assistance Program Resources

Community Trade Adjustment Assistance

EDA's Community Trade Adjustment Assistance (Community TAA) Program is aimed at helping to create and retain jobs by providing project grants to communities that have experienced, or are threatened by, job loss resulting from international trade impacts.

Grants under the program can be used to support a wide range of technical, planning, and infrastructure projects to help communities adapt to pressing trade impact issues and diversify their economies.

Trade Adjustment Assistance
Community College and Career Training Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Labor announced a solicitation for grant applications under the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program.  Grants will support the development and improvement of postsecondary programs of two years or less that use evidence-based or innovative strategies to prepare students for successful careers in growing and emerging industries. The program will be administered by the Labor Department in coordination with the U.S. Department of Education.

Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms

Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAA), a federal program, provides financial assistance to manufacturers affected by import competition. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, this cost sharing federal assistance program pays for half the cost of consultants or industry-specific experts for projects that improve a manufacturer's competitiveness.

TAA for Farmers

The TAA for Farmers program helps producers of raw agricultural commodities and fishermen adjust to a changing economic environment associated with import competition through technical assistance and cash benefits. If you are a producer of a commodity who has recently suffered a greater than 15 percent decrease in the national average price, the quantity of production, value of production, or cash receipts compared to the average of the three preceding marketing years, and an increase in imports contributed importantly to this decline, then you may be eligible to receive free information, technical assistance, and cash payments to develop and implement Business Adjustment Plans from the TAA for Farmers program.
