Short Description

HEATING & COOLING REBATES - No longer Available

BREAKING NEWS
Illinois' ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebate Program continues to be extremely popular!
•Heating and cooling equipment rebates are no longer available.  Thousands of new furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and air source heat pumps have been installed across Illinois and the federal funds for this part of the rebate program have been expended.  Congratulations to the consumers and HVAC contractors who participated!
• In only 9 weeks, consumers received $2.8 million in rebates which generated more than $30 million in sales for Illinois businesses.
• Illinois consumers can get rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, and room air conditioners at participating retailers April 16 - 25, or when funds expire.  Find a participating retailer near you <here>.

Basic program information - Program Closed
• Rebates on highly efficient heating and cooling equipment (gas and propane furnaces, central AC, air-source heat pumps, gas boilers) were available January 31, 2010, through Monday, April 5, 2010.
• Rebate levels were as follows:

HVAC Equipment Rebate
Product type  Required Efficiency Level Rebate
Central Air Conditioners   ≥SEER 16  $500
Air Source Heat Pumps   ≥SEER 16  $1,000
Propane Furnaces AFUE ≥ 95% $350
Gas Furnaces  AFUE ≥ 95% $350
Gas Boilers AFUE ≥ 90% $1,200

Rebates Available through Network Contractors - PROGRAM CLOSED

Rebates will be given through the contractor at the time of purchase, as a line-item discount on the purchase price.  Please note that consumers must have a participating network contractor install the system.  Beware of false advertising from non-network contractors.  Again, these rebates will be applied at the point of sale and will be automatically deducted from your bill.   You will not need to mail anything in or apply for the rebate at a later date.  You may find a contractor at one of the three links above.

What restrictions apply to these rebates? PROGRAM CLOSED

Only new equipment purchased in the state of Illinois, from a participating contractor that pays Illinois sales tax, for personal use by an Illinois consumer, and for use at the consumer’s Illinois residence are eligible for this rebate.  This program is not intended to be used by multi-family building owners.

• Only one rebate per product category, per household is allowable.  For example, a customer may receive a rebate on an ENERGY STAR water heater as well as a qualifying furnace, but would not be eligible for two furnace rebates.
• Only Illinois residents are eligible for these rebates.  Home zip code must be supplied at point of purchase.
• Rebates will not be retro-active; they will be available only during the periods announced.
• No rebate will be offered to customers who are representing a company or using corporate funding to purchase appliances.  In addition, retailers will have the right to refuse to have the appliances delivered to a place of business.
• Only residential-scale equipment will qualify.  Only installations in Illinois will qualify. Installations in commercial space will not be applicable.

Additional program information - PROGRAM CLOSED
This program is administered by the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.  DCEO is also coordinating with Illinois’ electric and natural gas utilities and the Illinois Retail Merchants’ Association.
